According to Iran's climate characteristics and building needs, the following areas are particularly suitable for installing ERV (energy recovery ventilation) systems:


1. ‌Yazd Ancient City and Surrounding Desert Cities‌

The climate in this area is extremely dry and hot (often exceeding 40°C in summer), and traditional wind tower buildings have proven the effectiveness of passive ventilation. 

The ERV system can be combined with modern air conditioning to maintain indoor humidity while recovering energy, solving the problem that traditional wind towers cannot accurately control humidity.


In the renovation of ancient buildings, ERV can replace some old wind tower structures, improving energy efficiency while preserving cultural landscapes.


2. ‌Tehran Metropolitan Area‌

As Iran's largest city, commercial buildings, subway systems and newly built residential buildings are densely populated. Subway tunnels need to deal with piston-effect airflow and emergency smoke exhaust. 

ERV can dynamically adjust the ratio of fresh air to exhaust gas with intelligent air valves, reducing energy consumption by 32%.

In 2025, Tehran will host the International HVACR Exhibition (IRAN HVACR), showing that the market demand for efficient ventilation equipment in this region is strong.

3. ‌Industrial areas along the Persian Gulf (such as Bushehr and Bandar Abbas)‌

The high temperature and high humidity environment along the coast exacerbates building corrosion, and chemical plants need corrosion-resistant ventilation equipment. The ERV system uses 

fiberglass and 316L stainless steel impellers, which can pass the 98% concentrated sulfuric acid mist test and have a service life of more than 10 years.

Facilities such as the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant need to maintain the air quality in enclosed spaces, and the energy recovery function of the ERV can reduce the external air processing load.

4. ‌Central plateau cities (such as Isfahan and Shiraz)‌

The temperature difference between day and night is large (it can reach 0℃ at night in winter). The heat recovery function of the ERV can balance the temperature difference between fresh air 

and exhaust air, reducing heating energy consumption. The local traditional masonry buildings have good thermal insulation, and with ERV, energy savings of more than 48% can be achieved.


Technical adaptation suggestions: In areas with more sand and dust (such as Yadzd), filters above MERV-13 need to be installed; coastal projects recommend the use of anti-salt spray coated units. 

Iranian local manufacturers already have EC fan intelligent control technology, which can be combined with AI energy efficiency models to achieve dynamic ventilation optimization.
